Problems regarding sexuality are common, especially for patients in healthcare. For prevalence numbers, gender differences are important to note. Whereas in men sexual dysfunction usually occurs as erectile dysfunctinon in elderly, femal sexual dysfunction occurs at any age, with at least one symptom present in nearly half of women. One of the little investigated topics is the influence of drug treatments on sexual function. Research about these sexual adverse drug reactions (sADR) has been challenged by a problematic causality assessment, because potential sADR are often also associated with the disease treated. In add addition, not all drug users may consider the change in sexual function important or outside the boundaries of a 'normal sexual response'. Lastly, the sensitivity of the topic detrs many patients from spontaneaously reporting potential sADR.
